The connection between Portugal and the cinema has been going on for more than a century.The first film screening in Portugal took place in June 1896, at the Real Coliseu (Royal Coliseum), in Lisbon.Six months after the first public screening of the Cinematographer, invention of the Lumière brothers, the first film screening in Portugal took place in June 1896, at the Real Coliseu, in Lisbon, where eight films by the English producer Robert W. were shown.
