Calçada de Alpajares

It is through these places that the annual Caminhos do Douro walking tour takes place. Calçada de Alpajares is a Roman-medieval section, adjacent to the wall of the Castro de São Paulo, one of the site's attractions.

The trilogy formed by the flora, archaeological heritage, and fauna completes the splendor not only of the place but of the entire extent of a walking route that includes Candedo, aptly called beautiful horrific, or "the perfect setting for a Prophet or a bandit," as described by Guerra Junqueiro.
