Built with stones from the old Castle of Moinhos, it was erected in 1856 to honour the visit of King Pedro IV to the island during the Portuguese Civil War.
The first stone used in its construction was one the emperor had stepped on when he landed in 1832. Excellent panoramic views over Angra do Heroísmo.Public Place
