In the Alentejo region, specifically in Odemira, the Doc’s Kingdom International Documentary Film Seminar is taking place until 23 November. This year’s edition, themed “Ways of Listening”, brings together around 100 participants from 25 countries and is supported by the Portugal Film Commission.
As part of this partnership, Ana Marques, Executive Director of the Portugal Film Commission, took part in activities this Thursday. The day’s programme included a presentation of the Commission, focusing on its work in supporting and streamlining filming processes and the incentives provided by Pic Portugal.
In addition to the usual participant debates, the day featured public sessions, including screenings of documentaries by Susana de Sousa Dias and the Black Audio Film Collective.
Throughout the week, participants at Doc’s Kingdom watch films and engage in informal discussions, fostering a connection with the local community. Curated by Stoffel Debuysere, this edition offers a varied programme including films, debates, installations, sound performances, and listening sessions.
The seminar is organised by APORDOC – the Portuguese Documentary Association, with funding from the Portuguese Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (ICA) and support from the Municipality of Odemira.
