The 77th edition of the Festival de Cannes – International film festival, which takes place between the 14th and 25th of May, will feature eight Portuguese films. The highlight goes to Grand Tour, by Miguel Gomes, which was selected for the main competitive section of the festival. This co-production of Uma Pedra no Sapato was supported by Pic Portugal – Cash Rebate Incentive and became the first Portuguese project to be nominated for the Palme d’Or in the last 18 years.
The official selection of short films includes Bad for a Moment, by Daniel Soares, produced by O Som e a Fúria.
Miséricorde, a co-production between France, Spain and the Portuguese production company Rosa Films, has its world premiere in the Cannes Première section, integrating the festival’s official selection.
In the Directors’ Fortnight, an independent sidebar at the Cannes Festival, Savanna and the Mountain, by Paulo Carneiro; Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, by Hermán Rosselli; When the Land Runs Away, by Frederico Lobo; and The Moving Garden, by Inês Lima.
My Senses are all I Have to Offer, by Isadora Neves Marques, was selected for La Semaine de la Critique competition, a parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival, organized by the French Union of Film Critics.
