“Filming in Alentejo and Elvas” was the theme of a discussion held at the Centro Artístico Elvense last Saturday, 22 March. The event explored the region’s potential as a filming destination and the importance of establishing a local film office, featuring the participation of Ana Marques, executive director of the Portugal Film Commission.
Moderated by João Antero, president of the Alentejo and Ribatejo Film Commission, the discussion also included José Manuel dos Santos, president of the Alentejo and Ribatejo Regional Tourism Board, and Cláudio Monteiro, councillor of Elvas City Council.
The panel examined the role of film commissions and the economic impact of film and audiovisual productions on local territories, referencing the example of A Protegida, a production currently being filmed in Elvas.
This discussion was part of the programme for RONCA – Elvas Film Showcase, which runs until 30 March. This edition has the high patronage of the European Parliament and presents a programme that celebrates Portuguese cinema and its connection to fado.
