Lisbon hosted international workshop on sustainability

Around 20 industry professionals took part in the Green Film Lab, the international workshop dedicated to sustainability that took place in Lisbon from 7 to 9 November. The participants included producers, directors, screenwriters, sustainability consultants and representatives of film commissions, who gathered at Heden Alvalade, the venue that hosted the initiative.

The group had the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in sustainable production, acquiring tools to apply within the context of film and audiovisual projects. Over three days, participants were divided into working groups where they designed sustainability plans for projects at different stages of development.

On 8 November, the initiative promoted an open session for Portuguese professionals, where Ana Marques, Executive Director of the Portugal Film Commission, presented the ongoing work to promote sustainable production in Portugal. The morning also featured a presentation on the Green Film protocol and a case study of 18 Holes to Paradise, the first Portuguese project to be certified by Green Film, presented by Andreia Nunes.

The programme featured specialists such as Giovanni Pompili, Head of Studies at Green Film Lab, Louise Marie Smith, founder and CEO of Neptune Sustainability, Dörte Schneider Garcia, President of Repensar – the Association of Green Consultants of Portugal, and Lucie Trémolières, a screenwriter and director focused on emotional responses to the environmental crisis.

The Green Film Lab concluded on Sunday, 9 November, with the final presentation of projects, simulating a pitch meeting where participants showcased their projects and sustainability plans. The initiative was organised by TorinoFilmLab and Green Film, promoted by the Museo Nazionale del Cinema and the Trentino Film Commission, with the support of the Portugal Film Commission and the Portuguese Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (ICA).
