New episodes of the Portugal Film Commission podcast

Animation, film tourism, the importance of sound, and the independent audiovisual production are some of the themes of the last episodes of the current season of “Filming in Portugal. See the big picture”, the film industry podcast of the Portugal Film Commission.

“What is the role of sound design in filmmaking?” is the question raised by the latest episode, that was released this Wednesday featuring Nuno Fonseca, founder and CEO of Sound Particles. A conversation on the use of particles and the fact that some of the biggest Hollywood studios are using the software created by this company based in a Portuguese medium-sized city called Leiria.

In the year that Portugal will be highlighted at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the host, Martin Dale, will speak with Marcel Jean, artistic director of the festival, about this edition of the event and the development of the sector over the last few years. An episode to listen from February 14.

Film tourism will be analyzed by Sara Trigo, a PhD candidate in Tourism Management at the Norwegian School of Hotel Management, University of Stavanger, Norway. With the sustainable development of destinations on the table, this episode will look at the consequences of the growth of this segment of tourism (February 28).

Susana Gato, executive president of the Portuguese Association of Independent Producers (APIT), talks about a vibrant sector, while pointing out some of the biggest issues at the moment: geo-blocking, intellectual property, and artificial intelligence (March 13).

The episodes of “Filming in Portugal: See the big picture” are available every two weeks on the Portugal Film Commission’s website and on the podcast platforms, such as Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
