The Portugal Film Commission participated in the European Film Market (EFM), held from 13 to 19 February in Berlin, Germany. Hundreds of industry professionals from around the world visited the stand of the Portuguese Film and Audiovisual Institute (ICA) at the Gropius Bau, where they had the opportunity to meet with the Portuguese delegation and learn more about the Pic Portugal incentives.
Around 77 Portuguese professionals attended the festival’s industry market, including producers, directors, distributors, exhibitors, programmers, and screenwriters. This edition saw a strong presence from the American film industry, which became the second-largest group of participants, following Germany.
During the EFM, it was also announced that Portugal will be the Guest of Honor at this year’s edition of the Guadalajara International Film Festival. The announcement was made by Guillermo Gómez Mata, the festival’s president, and Luís Chaby Vaz, president of the ICA and film commissioner.
Participation in the EFM marked the beginning of the Portugal Film Commission’s international agenda for 2025. Upcoming events include the MAFIZ – Málaga Festival Industry Zone, in Málaga, and the Series Mania Forum, in Lille, both scheduled for March.
