Portugal Film Commission participated in the 29th edition of MAFIZ – Málaga Film Festival Industry Zone, held between 9 and 13 March. The event brought together 1,600 professionals from 53 countries in Málaga, serving as a platform to promote Portugal as a strategic filming destination and to showcase the national incentives system, in an initiative that reinforced Portugal’s positioning in the Ibero-American audiovisual market.
One of the highlights of the Portuguese participation was the Showcase Portugal, on 11 March, as part of MAFF – Málaga Festival Fund & Co-Production. Four national production companies, Bla Bla Bla Media, Maria Zimbro, Ukbar and Fado Films presented their projects in development to a packed room of industry professionals, generating promising meetings and paving the way for new international partnerships.

PFC also accompanied the presentation of Si Es Martes, Es Asesinato, featured in the Out of Competition Series section. An original Disney+ production, filmed entirely in Lisbon, the series highlights iconic settings of the capital and features Portuguese actors in leading roles. Produced by Grupo Lazona for The Walt Disney Company, the series premieres worldwide on 31 March.
The positive outcome of this year’s participation at MAFIZ was crowned by the recognition of Stella Maris, by Laura Muñoz Liaño, winner of the Acorde Music Library Award at MAFF. A co-production between Spanish production company 24 Violets and Portuguese Maria Zimbro, with executive production by Elisa Bogalheiro, it stands as a strong example of creative and strategic collaboration between Portugal and Spain.
