The Portugal Film Commission podcast returned with another live episode, this time as part of FEST – New Directors | New Films Festival. Paul Miller joined Martin Dale for a conversation on Wednesday, 24 June, at the Centro Multimeios de Espinho.
Starting from the challenges faced by producers and filmmakers today, the discussion explored topics such as independent film financing, the opportunities offered by international co-productions, the factors that make a territory attractive to producers and financiers, and the trends likely to shape the future of international production.
This special episode of the podcast Filming in Portugal: See the Big Picture will be released soon.
An international producer and consultant whose career spans the United States, Europe and the Middle East, Paul Miller previously served as Director of Film Financing at the Doha Film Institute and worked on films such as Norah, which premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes 2024, and Scales, winner of awards at Venice and Saudi Arabia’s submission for the Academy Awards.
The 22nd edition of FEST is taking place in Espinho until 28 June, featuring a programme packed with film screenings, masterclasses, networking opportunities and discussion forums for film industry professionals.
