The Portugal Film Commission once again took part in the Guadalajara Film Market, the industry platform of the Guadalajara International Film Festival, held from 16 to 23 April in the Mexican city.
By participating in the event, the Portugal Film Commission had the opportunity to engage in Industry Meetings with international professionals from the sector, particularly Latin American producers interested in co-production opportunities with Portugal and in the new SCRI.PT incentive programme.
Portugal’s stand sought to reflect the presence of Portuguese cinema at this year’s edition of the festival, which featured several productions in competition. Across animation, fiction and documentary, special mention goes to 18 Holes to Paradise, which was selected for the Ibero-American feature film competition and was supported by the Cash Rebate Incentive.

Luís Chaby Vaz, Film Commissioner and President of the Portuguese Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (ICA), served on the jury panel for the Premio de Cine Socioambiental, and took part in a panel dedicated to production incentives in Portugal, Spain and Mexico. He joined Daniela Alatorre, from the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE), Camilo Vázquez, from Spain’s Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), and Noemí Pizano, from FILMA Jalisco, for this discussion.
It is worth recalling that Portugal was the Guest of Honour at the Guadalajara International Film Festival in 2025, with a programme that included films in competition, an extensive retrospective, exhibitions, talks and masterclasses.
