The Portugal Film Commission will once again be present at the industry market of the Guadalajara International Film Festival, in Mexico. From 18 to 23 April, Portugal will have a stand at the Guadalajara Film Market, with this year’s edition taking place at the Conjunto Santander de Artes Escénicas and the Cineteca FICG.
Portugal thus continues its participation in what is the oldest film festival in Mexico, after having been Guest of Honour in 2025 – the year that marked the beginning of the presence of the Portugal Film Commission and the Portuguese Institute of Film and Audiovisual (ICA) at the event.

In 2026, the festival’s programme includes six projects with Portuguese involvement, as well as several films in competition. 18 Holes to Paradise, by João Nuno Pinto, is part of the Ibero-American Fiction Feature Film Competition; Dog Alone, by Marta Reis Andrade, is nominated for the Rigo Mora Award; while The Emancipation of Mimi, by Marcelo Pereira, and Film Pin, a coproduction between Colombia and the Portuguese company Bam Bam Cinema, are part of the Ibero-American Short Film Competition.
Meanwhile, Amílcar, a coproduction between Spain, France, Switzerland, Cape Verde and Portugal, produced by Lx Films, is nominated for the Best Ibero-American Documentary Award; and O Mel e a Ferida, a short documentary coproduced between Mexico and Portugal, is competing for the Hecho en Jalisco Award. In the Son de Cine In-Edit section, which explores the intersection between music and audiovisual, the programme includes Nova ’78, by Rodrigo Areias and Aaron Brookner.
“Episodio 0” is the industry programme dedicated to series in development, where the Portuguese-Spanish production Past Waters, by Bruno Gascon, stands out. The series adapts the homonymous crime novel by João Tordo.
