Portugal joins the leadership of the new IBEROFIC

The Ibero-American Film Commission Network (IBEROFIC) announced this week the formation of its Board of Directors, a particularly significant milestone two years after its foundation. Ana Marques, Executive Director of the Portugal Film Commission, has joined the organisation’s leadership, reaffirming Portugal’s role within the Ibero-American context.

“Joining the Board of Directors represents a strategic opportunity to strengthen partnerships, stimulate the audiovisual industry and position the country as a ‘bridge’ between Europe and Latin America,” highlighted Ana Marques, who is part of a board that aims to reflect the diversity of the Ibero-American region.

Therefore, it also includes Carolina Cordero, General Director of Cultural and Creative Development at Argentina’s Ministry of Culture and the Buenos Aires Film Commission; Marysela Zamora, Film Commissioner at the Costa Rica Film Commission; Juan Manuel Guimerans Rubio, President of the Spain Film Commission; Diana Álvarez Segoviano, General Coordinator of the Mexican Film Commission; and Javier Espinoza, Commissioner at the Baja California Film Commission (Mexico).

The board will be responsible for defining strategic guidelines, promoting the internationalisation of the network and its expansion into new markets, as well as encouraging the establishment of co-production agreements. The goal is to strengthen the region’s standing by positioning it, in an integrated way, as a filming destination.

IBEROFIC is a non-profit organisation that represents film commissions from Portugal, Spain and Latin America. Bringing together 150 entities, it acts as a key interlocutor for the international industry, promoting the development and cooperation of the audiovisual ecosystem in both Portuguese and Spanish speaking markets.
