The third Audiovisual Ideas Market of the 47th São Paulo International Film Festival took place between October 26 and 28 at the Cinemateca Brasileira, with the participation of Portugal Film Commission. “Portugal and Brazil – the possible ties also in audiovisual” was the theme of the roundtable discussion promoted by the Portuguese representation on October 28.
Cultural relations, experiences, similarities and differences between cinema and audiovisual production in the two countries were some of the topics covered by Filipa Reis, from the production company Uma Pedra no Sapato, Tathiani Sacilotto and António Ferreira, from Persona Non Grata Pictures.
“In the world of Lusofonia, Brazil and Portugal have been unequivocal partners” highlights Ana Marques, executive director of Portugal Film Commission, highlighting that “co-production between the two countries allows not only the promotion of cultural diversity, but also the sharing of resources and the expansion of the distribution market.” It is worth remembering that the Portugal-Brazil Film Coproduction Agreement was resumed this year, with the application period running until October 19.
In addition to this round table (available here), Portugal was also represented through a Happy Hour Visit Portugal. Through a partnership with Turismo de Portugal in Brazil, participants in the festival were able to taste some traditional Portuguese products.
The program of this 47th São Paulo International Film Festival included the screening of 21 films with Portuguese production or co-production, of which five were supported by the Portuguese Cash Rebate.
