Portugal once again marked a strong presence at MIPCOM Cannes, one of the world’s leading events dedicated to the audiovisual sector, held from 13 to 16 October at the Palais des Festivals in that French city. Around 70 Portuguese participants attended this year’s edition, which focused on digital creators and their integration with traditional producers, platforms, brands and distributors.

The Portugal Film Commission and the Portuguese Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (ICA) shared the Portuguese stand with the Association of Independent Television Producers (APIT), RTP, SIC and TVI. The joint space served to promote international co-productions, showcase national talent and highlight Portugal as a competitive destination for filming and post-production.

On 14 October, the Portugal Film Commission hosted the “Tune in to Portugal” cocktail, a networking event that gathered 53 Portuguese and 49 international professionals for the exchange of ideas and projects.

During the event, several productions were presented: Casa Abrigo (Fado Films, supported by Pic Portugal – Cash Rebate Incentive), Lisbon Noir (See My Dreams, supported by Pic Portugal – Cash Refund Incentive), The Collector: You’re Next (an international co-production by Coral Europa and Isla Audiovisual for RTP and Prime Video) and Cold Haven (an international co-production between SPi, Glassriver, RTP and Símmin, featuring Portuguese and Icelandic cast).

The institutional presence of the ICA and the Portugal Film Commission, together with the involvement of Portuguese companies and professionals throughout this edition of MIPCOM Cannes, helped strengthen the visibility and international projection of Portugal’s audiovisual sector, furthering its growth and global expansion.
