FEST – New Directors | New Films returned to the city of Espinho for another edition, taking place until Sunday, 29 June. In 2025, the Pic Portugal incentives took on a dedicated presence at the festival, through a session included in the Industry Program, held this Wednesday.

“Producing with Incentives: Cash Rebate in Practice” was the masterclass where producer Nick Page provided a practical introduction to how the Cash Rebate system works in Portugal, based on the concrete case of Damsel, a project supported through this incentive.

The session began with a brief introduction from the Portugal Film Commission, followed by a conversation between Nick Page and Gonçalo Galvão Teles, who led the masterclass. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions about the process of applying for the Pic Portugal incentive, as well as to learn about the specificities of that particular production.

It’s worth noting that the feature film Damsel was directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and filmed in several iconic Portuguese locations, including the Convent of Christ, the Monastery of Batalha, Sortelha, Serra da Estrela and the Douro Valley.
