Conecta Magaluf-Mallorca took place on the island of Mallorca, in an event that succeeds Conecta Fiction & Entertainment on the occasion of its 10th anniversary. Over the course of four days, the international market featured networking opportunities and training activities focused on the audiovisual sector.

Lisbon hosted the first edition of Content Europe, a strategic market for the audiovisual industry that brought together around 900 professionals from across the world. The Portugal Film Commission (PFC) played a central role in the event, reaffirming Portugal as one of Europe's most competitive destinations for international production.

By participating in the event, the Portugal Film Commission had the opportunity to engage in Industry Meetings with international professionals from the sector, particularly Latin American producers interested in co-production opportunities with Portugal and in the new SCRI.PT incentive programme.

The Portugal Film Commission was an Industry Partner of this inaugural edition, with highlights including a panel on Portugal, its ability to attract international productions, and its growing role as a hub for projects focused on technology and innovation.

From 24 to 26 March, the Portugal Film Commission took part in the Series Mania Forum, an international market dedicated to TV series that brought together around 5,000 professionals. The team hosted a meeting table in the Delegates’ Hall and organised a networking breakfast that kicked off the second day of the event.

The Ibero-American Film Commission Network (IBEROFIC) announced this week the formation of its Board of Directors. Ana Marques, Executive Director of the Portugal Film Commission, has joined the organisation’s leadership, reaffirming Portugal’s role within the Ibero-American context.

The workshop brought together around 45 participants from 32 countries, marking the beginning of an eight-month programme dedicated to the development of documentary projects.

The Portugal Film Commission is an Industry Partner of the event, which will take place in the Portuguese capital from 13 to 15 April at the EPIC SANA Lisboa hotel. The team will be present at several moments of the programme, with particular highlight on the panel “Portugal on Screen: A High-Growth Market for Streamers & Global Content Players”.

From 18 to 23 April, Portugal will have a stand at the Guadalajara Film Market, with this year’s edition taking place at the Conjunto Santander de Artes Escénicas and the Cineteca FICG. Portugal thus continues its participation in what is the oldest film festival in Mexico, after having been Guest of Honour in 2025.

The EFM, the industry event of the Berlin International Film Festival, returned to the German capital from 12 to 18 February. Portugal was present with a stand hosted by the Portuguese Institute of Film and Audiovisual (ICA) and the Portugal Film Commission, which served as a meeting point for Portuguese professionals.

Figueira da Foz won the EUFCN Location Award 2025, a prize decided by public vote and presented by the EUFCN. The announcement was made during a ceremony held at the Radisson Collection Berlin, on the sidelines of the European Film Market (EFM).

Loulé hosted the first edition of the Ibero-American Animation Market – MAIA, which took place between January 21 and 23 and was attended by the Portugal Film Commission, reinforcing the institutional commitment to the development and internationalization of Portugal’s animation sector.

The application was submitted by the Portugal Film Commission, highlighting the city’s central role in "Broken Spies", a series supported by Pic Portugal - Cash Rebate Incentive. Until 30 January, the public can vote online for the EUFCN Audience Location Award 2025.

Over the two days of the market, Portugal Film Commission met with professionals interested in learning more about the conditions Portugal offers as a filming and production destination.

Transparency, ethical conduct and response times are among the topics addressed in this survey, which is confidential and anonymous. Responses may be submitted until 8 December.

Participants will gain in-depth insight into European documentary production and explore various possibilities for partnership and coproduction. The workshop will focus on the development of documentary projects and is aimed at industry professionals based in Portugal.

In recent years, Portugal has established itself as an international destination for film and audiovisual production. This recognition has been strengthened by the creation of the Tourism and Cinema Support Fund, as well as by a strategic effort to promote the sector among key industry players and international events.

The programme included a networking coffee hosted by the Portugal Film Commission which, together with several one-on-one meetings held over the four days, helped strengthen the goal of fostering partnerships and co-productions with the Brazilian market and other international participants.

The Portuguese stand was shared with APIT, RTP, SIC and TVI. The joint space served to promote international co-productions, showcase national talent and highlight Portugal as a competitive destination for filming and post-production.

Curated by Carole Desbarats, this edition focused on the role of the producer in the process of creating a series, from the writing stage to their relationship with other key creative players. The discussions also addressed the influence of series on society and politics, the roles of screenwriters, producers and broadcasters, as well as issues related to distribution and transmission.

Environmental sustainability has been established as one of the main pillars of action for the Portugal Film Commission. On the occasion of the National Sustainability Day, we highlight a resource designed to raise awareness within the sector and encourage the adoption of sustainable practices.

With the aim of fostering international dialogue and reinforcing ties between Portugal and Brazil, the Portugal Film Commission stood out through a workshop on funding opportunities for Brazilian audiovisual projects and through the active participation of Ana Marques in several debates and roundtables.

Applications are now open for the Green Film Lab, a TorinoFilmLab initiative taking place in Portugal with the support of the Portugal Film Commission and the Portuguese Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (ICA).

In 2025, the Pic Portugal incentives took on a dedicated presence at the festival, through a session included in the Industry Program, held this Wednesday. “Producing with Incentives: Cash Rebate in Practice” was the title of the masterclass.

After Portugal having been the focus country at the previous edition, the country returned to the spotlight in one of the event’s panel discussions, featuring Ana Marques, Executive Director of the Portugal Film Commission, and Victor Lamadrid, Secretary General of the Spain Film Commission.

The Portugal Film Commission took part in the latest edition of the Marché du Film, further strengthening Portugal’s position as a competitive and attractive destination for international film and audiovisual productions.

The regulation outlining the conditions for this financial support has been updated to cover the development of environmental sustainability plans carried out by specialised consultants. It also includes the hiring of auditing services aimed at obtaining green shooting certification or sustainability certification for other initiatives within the film and audiovisual sector.

As part of the Series Mania Forum, the Portugal Film Commission hosted a networking event entitled Portugal – Meet the Producers. Distributors, executive producers, screenwriters and sales agents were among the international participants in this meeting.

The Portugal Film Commission once again participated in MAFIZ – Málaga Festival Industry Zone, which took place from 17 to 21 March in Spain. Portugal had a stand in the industry section of the Málaga Festival, which welcomed around a thousand participants from 63 countries.

In 2025, the Portugal Film Commission once again partnered with the Do(C)ôa Nature Film Festival, an event dedicated to promoting natural, ecological, and cultural values, as well as environmental awareness and tourism in the Greater Côa Valley.

Hundreds of industry professionals from around the world visited the stand of the Portuguese Film and Audiovisual Institute (ICA) at the Gropius Bau, where they had the opportunity to meet with the Portuguese delegation and learn more about the Pic Portugal incentives.

Approximately 85 professionals representing 24 Galician companies and 28 Portuguese companies participated in the event, part of Porto/Post/Doc’s industry-focused programme.

Portugal is the featured country at this year's edition of Conecta FICTION & ENTERTAINMENT. Three Portuguese productions and a co-production with Brazil have been selected for the pitching sessions that will run until 21 June.

Ten young filmmakers spent a weekend together in Évora, together with European Film Academy members Maria Schrader and Jan Schomburg, creating an exchange of ideas and inspirations between different generations.

TorinoFilmLab selected 16 projects that will be part of this year's edition of ScriptLab. The program includes residential sessions that will take place in Berlin (April), Portugal (June) and Turin (November).
